Description
Tayberry Extra Jam
Tayberries are a hybrid fruit from raspberries and blackberries and originate from the banks of the River Tay in Scotland. The fruit is similar to a loganberry, but is sweeter and more aromatic. The tayberries that go into our tayberry extra jam is hand picked at Maynards, a fruit grower in Wadhurst, Kent, during their short season – not an easy task! – so this is available in limited quantities.
What makes our tayberry extra jam different?
Our tayberry extra jam is like all of our jams, having more fruit in than typical supermarket brands. An extra jam has to have a minimum of 45g fruit per 100g product and must be made from whole fruit. Each of our jams is made seasonally and we use hand-picked, locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. We do not add any artificial flavours, preservatives or sweeteners so our jams have only 100% natural ingredients.
Uses for tayberry extra jam
This jam really packs a punch and gives a taste of summer in a jar! If you are a fan of raspberry jam then why not use tayberry instead? It makes a lovely filling for a traditional Victoria sandwich cake or in a traybake, so why not try this jam in your favourite Jam Packed recipe. Tayberry jam also goes really well with scones and cream or in jam tarts so is a firm favourite with home bakers. Our tayberry jam only has two ingredients – tayberries and sugar – so this is also suitable for use in any gluten free or vegan recipes.
